SDC Enterprises has acquired a 9.5 acre site with the ambition of building a new, purpose-built factory to facilitate its successful operation. The premises – at Spinksmire Mill, Meltham – include a substantial number of leased units, and the development land required for the existing business to continue to grow.

Spinksmire Mill is located around four miles away from SDC Enterprises’ current headquarters in the West Yorkshire town of Holmfirth, ensuring that all existing staff can relocate. The additional space however offers ample potential for the business to grow, and explore new opportunities.

Currently based in leased premises alongside its subsidiary Sam Weller, SDC Enterprises heralds a new era with its move to its first-ever owned property. As well as overcoming the challenges faced by the limited space at its current site, the acquisition of Spinksmire Mill will see both businesses operate in fully bespoke, purpose-built premises.

“Having identified new opportunities for growth, SDC Enterprises will relocate as part of a wider strategy to ensure the development of sustainable income for the charitable aims of our shareholder the Society of Dyers & Colourists,” says SDC Enterprises’ managing director Mark Yare. “The relocation of our existing workforce will ensure that our skills can be retained, and that we can continue to deliver a quality and consistent service worldwide while continuing to grow and develop.”

Depending upon final designs and obtaining the necessary planning permission, Enterprises aim to begin development in 2019/20
